WHAT ARE MICROGREENS?

  • Microgreens and micro herbs are the seedling versions of leafy greens, vegetables, and herbs. Microgreens are vegetable greens ( do not confuse them for sprouts or shoots) and are harvested just after the cotyledon leaves have developed, sometimes with one set of true leaves. In fact they are a few days older than "sprouts".

  • Simply put, Microgreens are baby plants that are nutrient dense and because of this and them being rich in Vitamins they are considered a super food.

WHAT IS A SUPER FOOD?

  • Superfoods are foods that have high nutritional density and are rich in vitamins and minerals. Foods like microgreens, sweet potatoes, coconuts, blueberries and even chocolate are considered superfoods. In fact, microgreens are considered by some to be among the best superfoods.

IS YOUR PRODUCE CHEMICAL FREE?

  • Yes. We do not use any chemicals or preservatives on any of our produce. In fact we grow all of our Microgreens in BPA free trays and strive to be eco friendly.

WHERE ARE YOUR MICROGREENS GROWN?

  • We grow all our microgreens in Collingswood and Historic Mount Holly, New Jersey under strict GAP standards. We never use herbicides or pesticides. We only use clean PH tested, balanced water and light.

  • Our main priority is to offer you the highest-quality produce possible. To ensure this, we test all of our products, inspect thoroughly for mold, and yeast. We also make sure to have the cleanest and safest controlled environment optimal for growing.

HOW ARE MICROGREENS USED

  • Having remarkably intense flavors considering their baby plants, Microgreens are used as a flavor ingredient as well as bringing visual intensification for more upscale cuisine. Microgreens delicate, fresh appearance adds beauty and depth to dishes. Synthesized with a range of distinct flavor elements and bold colors you can make any dish look five start.

  • Microgreens are also used to add nutrients, texture and flavor to everyday dishes such as sandwiches, soup, in smoothies or mixed in with your favorite salad. You can really  put this superfood on just about anything.

HOW LONG DO MICROGREENS LAST ONCE HARVESTED?

  •  Microgreens will usually last at least 5-7 days if they are refrigerated at the right temperature (38-40 degrees).

  • Microgreens shelf life will differ depending on a variety of things. Climate, growing method, handling, type and packaging will all play a role in self life..

  • We make sure to do everything under the proper conditions to ensure freshest product. From what we harvest with (we use sharp vegetable knives to prevent pinching and wilting) right down to delivery (all deliveries are done day of harvest).

WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE MICROGREENS?

  • Microgreens and related items should be kept in Refrigeration at 38-40 degrees in a closed container.  Basil is much more sensitive to low temperatures and may turn dark brown or black within a short time of exposure to temps 32 degrees or lower.
